Blog, Our Blog,
Our mobile devices are both a blessing and a curse. They allow for constant communication, not only from family and friends, but also with customers. When we use our mobile devices properly, we’re given access to a great deal of information, right at our fingertips. We believe that out of the hundreds of apps out there, these are five of the must-have apps every contractor should use in order to help their employees and future customers.
GeoJuice is a tool that allows your employees to “check in” at a job site, post information about what’s going on at that site and include a picture. The check-in can post directly to your website and a variety of social media outlets without your having to take any extra steps. After a job is completed, an invitation to the homeowner can be sent, asking for a review. Again, the reviews can be distributed across many platforms. This app increases your online visibility with reviews and regular updates to social media and your website every time you post.
No other roofing tool provides as many features as this one. Not only is GAF e360 a tool for estimating, it also allows you to quickly and easily show a homeowner what their home would look like with a new GAF roof. You can manage all your jobs in one place, and perhaps one of the biggest benefits of this app is how easy it is to use. With a little training even your canvassers can learn to estimate a roof. You can trust this tool as the GAF e360 has a 95% accuracy of measurement. If you sell windows and siding, you can use it to measure for those and trim work as well.

Contractor Estimate & Proposal by JobFLEX
Every contractor understands that being able to present a great-looking proposal quickly to a potential client is of utmost importance. Contractor Estimate & Proposal allows you to do just that. With this app, you can create a custom proposal for each customer that includes images, material lists and an optional cover page. You can preview before emailing or, if you have a portable printer, you can print the estimate directly from your smartphone or tablet. A free trial includes up to 50 estimates. It’s currently available only on Android. If you have an iPhone, Joist’s Contractor Estimate & Invoice is a good contender as well.
Handy Construction Calculator
This app includes over 70 different calculators, all in one. Some of the options include measuring roofing squares, attic ventilation, and flooring. It allows you to save your favorite or most-used calculators in a folder. Another convenient feature is the notepad right in the app, allowing you to save additional notes with just a click. Currently, it’s only available on Android and has excellent reviews for its features and functionality.
This app appeals to any remodeler. It’s simple to use; take a photo, zoom in and note your measurements on the images. You can also add text comments to each image if you need to make a note on a particular photo. Organize the photos by category (think room or job site) and easily export them to PDF or JPG.
Be More Productive
Narrowing down the best contractor apps to just five was not an easy task. Your smartphone or tablet can be your work productivity tool, marketing device, and estimator. When you’re a small business, you need to be as productive as possible and with these apps, you have more ways to do just that.
