Make the Most Out of LinkedIn’s New Company Pages:

Our Blog

LinkedIn recently changed the layout design for company pages.  But you don’t need to worry- it’s all aesthetics and improvements that make it easier than ever to manage your page.  All of the aspects that you loved before are still there; just with a cleaner and improved scheme.  Make sure you’re taking advantage of this new makeover and getting the most out of your company’s page.

If you don’t currently have a LinkedIn company page, it’s time you set up an account.  You can provide an overview of your company, display all of your accomplishments (especially awards your company has received), capture more potential clients, and reach qualified job seekers.  The site also has powerful tools called Insights.  Insights gives you information on all of the following:

  • Follower demographics
  • Company update impressions
  • Follower progress (recent users, new followers, member growth0
  • Viewer engagement
  • Visitor demographics ( seniority, industry, region)
  • Unique visitors

What better way to see if you’re marketing efforts are working!

There is also employee insights, which lets you learn more about your employees.  It will track employees who have been promoted, have left the company, and skills that your employees possess.

Now the new LinkedIn does even more.  You are finally able to customize your homepage to integrate pictures and represent your company’s personality on a much larger scale.  The company overview description is now placed lower than the overpowering photo that you choose to embody your company.  It is wise to make sure that this picture will capture the attention of the viewer, as this is the first item they will now see.   This photo should also be high-res.

Another major improvement that was made was to the posting options.  When you enter a status update, the new system gives you a choice of posting to only a selected target audience or to all of your followers.  Much like Google+, this helps isolate and segment messages to specific target audiences.

Remember how reviews and recommendations are so important?  Well, these recommendations are now prominently displayed and easy for viewers to see.   Make sure you reach out to past clients and other vendors for recommendations.  These reviews provide credibility and gain the respect of the viewer.

All of the old tools are still available on the LinkedIn company pages.  You may just need to play around to find exactly what you are looking for, as many buttons have changed.  Once you get used to the new format though, you’ll be sure to be happy with the change.

Chris Marentis

Chris Marentis is a passionate entrepreneur and innovator determined to leave a legacy bigger than himself. Chris grew up in an entrepreneurial family with a father who owned a home contracting HVAC business. When traditional media was disrupted by the online world, empowering consumers to rely less on sales people and advertisements to make decisions, large companies with big budgets could afford to play the game, but the local entrepreneur, like Chris’s father was left behind. This disadvantage inspired Chris to write Surefire Local: the guide for local SMB’s to compete in the digital world. Chris was invited to speak at events and demand grew for ways to implement his ideas. Chris turned his vision into a reality when he started Surefire Local in 2009. Feedback was strong. Businesses began asking for help implementing their digital marketing and Surefire evolved into a SaaS and services business. The company’s dramatic growth came with only 1-2 sales people at any given time and a limited marketing budget, thanks to referrals from rabidly loyal clients. The company’s latest innovation Surepulse, an SMB’s Digital CMO, provides data insights and competitive tactics to marketing novices, giving them complete control over their online marketing activities. Chris has spoken at the following events: SMX, BIA/Kelsey, Hanley Wood International Roofing Show and Contractor Summit, NAILBA National Conference, Tech Summit, CCN, GAF Wealth Builders, Gutter Helmet National Dealer Meeting. Publications Chris contributes to: Street Fight, Search Engine Land, iMedia, Social Media Today, Franchising World‏.
